All that glitters is gol.OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Shinra and Joker confront Captain Burns, while Company 8 use their combined powers and wits to face down Gold.OUR TAKEWe’re still in the midst of this arc, so there’s not much new to say about it, but this is definitely a “and the rest” episode focusing on the rest of Company 8 instead of Shinra. While him and Joker fighting Burns to save Obi is obviously the more important fight, that’s only really going to get more attention in the last two episodes of the arc after this, so for now we get a chance for everyone else to shine a bit against a lower level bad guy who is so unimportant that her name is her power, just like most of the White Clad. Yeah, Gold is not the most complex character, but she does have a, erm, unique design and abilities that require using everyone in this group to fully combat. Maki using her Tekkyo as opening attacks, which were provided by Vulcan, while Licht analyzes Gold’s moves and determines that her ability is using her gold arm to become a magnet, as gold is not typically magnetic without heat. I’m not sure how accurate that science is but this may just need to be a case where we need to put the accuracy aside and just enjoy the entertainment, which is fine by me.Anyway, this allows for Tamaki to get a win by actually using her cringe inducing fanservice joke to get an advantage and have no magnetic parts of her clothing. Even with as much as I like this show more than other people I know, I cannot help but feel secondhand embarrassment for just about everything to do with Tamaki, including when people try to defend that gag. But yeah, she does contribute here in disrupting the magnet, as well as Lisa finally getting off her ass and using her own more visually cool flame magnetism powers, allowing them to melt Gold’s gold and for Hinawa to land the final shot between her eyes. So yeah, a good way to showcase the talents of everyone else in the company, aside from Arthur who just got there after falling off the car, but is in time to face the next big opponent, who we’ll get into next week. As a bit of a lull in the action that can just focus on victories and show how far all of these characters have come, this was a pretty solid success. But oh no, Burns ordered for Obi to get a bug put in him! Is this the end for Company 8’s Captain?! I mean, probably not, but come back and watch next week anyway.
