OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Uryu and Shirahi find themselves at a crossroads when deciding whether to go back to their original world.OUR TAKEWe finally reach the end of this arc and the season as a whole, with Uryu coming to terms with the fact that he feels…SOMETHING for each of the sisters. Like he clearly cares about them deeply and wants to live with them more than anyone else, but he doesn’t seem to quite be able to articulate in what way, at least not yet. The point is that he at least knows he does not want to live in a world where he does not know them OR date Shirahi, which is at least good for finally letting her get her feelings off her chest and accept being let down easy with a bit of grace. And I guess since no one was really hurt by this and it can all be easily undone, there’s no big consequences to her and Uryu’s friendship as a result of this. They do talk to the god who helped make this happen, Kuragami, who warns that this will destroy all chances of her and Uryu getting together, but uh…that kinda seems like it was already not happening anyway? Like if there was any chance to begin with, doing an inter-dimensional kidnapping to an alternate universe was probably the bucket to douse whatever spark may have been there. And despite their main counterparts not getting a lot of time in this episode or this arc, the Amagamis do get a chance to show off their usual adorable traits for a bit, though they’re basically just there to look cute while Yomiko, the mentor maiden from the other shrine, to give an abridged explanation of how the gods of this world are aware of all possible timelines and can help get things back to normal. Also, as Uryu finally confronts her on, it’s clear that Yomiko maintains some awareness of when time gets screwy, as seen when she seemed to know that time was repeating during Tanabata. Or maybe this version of her is just that similar. But she also makes clear that her allegiance is to the gods, so just because she tends to help Uryu from time to time with these matters, it’s only because she feels the gods would want that. But with that, this season draws to a close, and maybe we’ll get more development on that and the harem train we’ve been on if they get another season to do that. Or we could just read the manga, I guess.
