OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)As Senku recovers from getting shot, the rest of the crew plan their counterattack, both inside and out.OUR TAKEWe’re into the final third of THIS third of the final season and first blood has been drawn, putting Senku out of commission for a good long while. Thankfully, the Kingdom of Science is packed to the brim with talented individuals, not just in terms of brain, but also brawn, as Chrome is handed the baton and plots a daring infiltration of the enemy base in his own “bad” way: drilling through the ground and popping up inside. They also have their own inside man, Gen, who may have lost most of his credibility by lying to them about Taiju, but can at least buy some time. But Xeno’s group are no slouches either, considering they’re a bunch of full grown adults with at least ten times the collective experience among them, so their follow up attack is very likely to spill more of the red stuff, especially if they know they hit their target. With three episodes left in this stretch of the arc, and both sides ready for war, the bullets will fly, the blades will be drawn, and someone is likely to get petrified. I haven’t read the manga, so I don’t know where they plan to stop, but I’m sure it’s somewhere that will have us begging for more right away. This season has definitely started slow and methodically, getting the cast adjusted to their new surroundings before they faced their first threat, and then took some time to fully introduce us to this new group, a team of pre-Stone Age humans whose aptitude in science rivals and even surpasses those of Senku’s team. Now, if it sounds like if I’m getting ready for the Season Review early, that’s because I’m actually already out of things to talk about with this episode. Not because it was especially bad or anything, just that I’m so invested in things that it really comes down to just watching this like it’s another chip in the bag and I want more. I do wish I had the impulse control to only eat one chip a week, but that’s why the good lord made weekly releases of shows, or at least used to. Basically, if you’re still looking for a recommendation, then you have it. Go watch this and the three seasons that preceded it AND the two thirds of a season that will follow it! And then go read the manga or something, I dunno!
