Overview

After Danuta goes missing, Hayley joins forces with Wheels and the Legman detective to investigate the Bazooka Shark Babes’ involvement in her friend’s mysterious disappearance.

Our Take

In the grand scheme of Wheels and Legman episodes, of which there have been quite a few over the course of the show’s 21 seasons, I’m not sure if I’d put this one in my top five, but that doesn’t mean we still didn’t get a fun time. Featuring guest cast contributions from the likes of Kristin Chenowith (Carly’s Mom), Leslie Jones (Coach) and Jennifer Grey (Danuta’s Mom), we had quite a few funny sequences but don’t expect a lot of the action that you may have seen in prior W & L episodes.

This one gets a heavy contribution from Hayley of who, other than being a part of the cheer team, doesn’t add that much to the overall plot. Her clues were way off, lacked the professionalism of a solid detective, and she seemed to be more of a pain-in-the-ass than really becoming a true third option opposite our usual stars of these mysteries.

That said, there were still quite a few silly gags that helped me forget about any of that. The Jell-O factory accident was hysterical, this creepy asshole running around I was convinced was Steve from the future, and the entire scene featuring everyone getting trapped in the closet features one for the best fart jokes I’ve seen in an animated comedy in a long while.

American Dad’s got six episodes left this season and I don’t know what that means about the future of Wheels and & Legman, but if what is usually the more reliable portion of a Wheels & Legman episode wasn’t there only to see the rest of the episode still give us some solid laughs, then that means this show is still good on a bad day.
