Our Take:
If the show’s mid-season trailer has any indication, it looks like things might get even more absurd for Sakamoto and his family to handle as the season progresses. This week’s episode proved to be no exception to this case, as a case of mistaken identity resulted in Lu getting captured by a new group of assassins. However, Sakamoto and Shin’s quest to rescue her turns out to be more personal than what we expect, mainly when it comes to Shin. We know that Shin has the power of clairvoyance, but we lack the answer to how he managed to possess this powerful ability. This episode gave us this answer in the form of the “Lab”, Shin’s childhood home held hostage by the assassin group led by Kashima, a stitched-up killer with a reindeer head as his mask.
“Jurassic Bastard” is another example of providing interesting backgrounds for the supporting characters, mainly Shin, whose return to the past sends him on a mission to save his home. Not only that, but it’s also the start of what could be the show’s most exciting arc of the season, especially with how formidable this group seemed to be, including Seba, the group’s invisible assassin. It even has a Night of the Museum-like scenario where Sakamoto and Shin battle a skeleton T-Rex, showcasing how crazy things might get for the remaining season. Too bad Ben Stiller wasn’t around to assist the duo with a bone to distract it with. With Shin’s origin now revealed, this could provide a promising opportunity for the show to provide some sentimentality in the characters amid its action set pieces.
