English Dub Review: Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time “A Drake Horse Appears”

Overview (Spoilers Below): Takumi and the others head to the Royal Capital as the confrontation between the two churches continues to heat up.  Along the way, they encounter an injured Drake Horse, and Takumi’s attempt to heal it could risk his life.

Our Take: After another successful quest, Takumi and his allies are now faced with another journey to conquer: heading to the Royal Capital.  However, another slew of revealing secrets interfered with this quest, mainly the Church of Divine Light.  Not only did it demand for purification magic to be returned, but it was also cherished by its own goddess, Anat.  But, Anat may not seem to be the goddess, according to Nolyn.  But that gets tossed aside by Takumi, who welcomes another addition to the party, an injured Drake Horse that Maple discovered in the forest. “A Drake Horse Appears” finally allows Maple to shine after spending the last couple of episodes not doing much of anything, as she’s forced to defend the Drake Horse from a group of monstrous ants by herself.  Why’s that?  Because Takumi and the others were busy collecting Treant wood.  Despite his kindness towards others, Takumi can also be quite dumb in not responding to Maple’s cry for help right away.  Not to mention, he almost died housing a Drake Horse inside his pocket dimension without taming it first.  But, at the very least, it’s nice to see Maple making herself useful in the series instead of being just Takumi’s pet.  With the Drake Horse, now named Camellia, by the team’s side, Takumi’s family continues to grow in this sidetracked episode.
