English Dub Review: Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms “School Festival with Him”

Overview:

It’s time for the school festival, and Mona is convinced that the event vibes will make her moves on Medaka more effective. Is she right, though?

Our Take:

Mona always seems to go a step too far when she tries to get Medaka riled up, but I think that scares her for the wrong reasons. I don’t think she realizes she likes Medaka for real and is more worried about people thinking she likes him. But when someone tries to take him from her in the future, I have a feeling she won’t be concerned about what people think then. She dodged a bullet in the last episode but I think someone might be interested in Medaka instead of her.

This episode ended with a girl looking disappointed that she couldn’t see Medaka at the school festival. We were approaching the point when I stopped reading the manga, and if I recall correctly, this girl became an important character. I haven’t completely given up hope that this show will get better, but it’s becoming pretty standard rom-com shenanigans. It’s starting to look like it’s not only Medaka who is impervious to the charms of Mona.
