OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Xeno finishes the rest of his backstory and finally understands that Senku is the one really behind the Kingdom of Science.OUR TAKEAnd would you look at that, we are two thirds of the way through this stretch of the season. This time brings the flashback about Xeno’s backstory, as well as bringing us back to the present where Luna is still on the Perseus trying to point out who the heck is running the show over there. Of course, it’s only a matter of time before Xeno hears mention of Senku and pieces together that he’s the one actually in charge, not Taiju. Kind of hard to believe we’ve been on this point for most of this month but at least we’re finally past it. Luna has second thoughts because of how nice everyone was, but Stanley is still able to figure things out and tries to go in for the kill, leaving Senku only seconds to come up with a solution of water and starch to make a cushion to absorb the bullet, though he’s still hit by it to an extent. Glad to see this story still hasn’t lost its touch in being able to throw in some real world science to also make things feel tense and high tension. Not that you would be able to tell with how things have been paced lately. To be clear, I actually thought that flashback about Xeno was pretty neat and gave us context for the guy who supposedly guided Senku on his scientific journey, but it’s also just now hitting me that we’re nearly a third of the way done with the final season and there has been very little activity. Like things have definitely happened, but not a whole lot, and we’re only now having it clear to both sides who they’re dealing with. Maybe that was the intended milestone to get to by the end of this segment, but it’s also not very much. Still, that does leave us with four more episodes to make use of in showing how Team Senku and Team Xeno fully kick off their plans of attack. Currently the main edges Xeno has are himself and Stanley, but they’re nothing to sneeze at. They’re basically a grown up and much more refined version of Senku and Taiju, and they’re for sure going to take advantage of that to fight them. First blood has been drawn, directly on Senku to make things worse, but even in that small span of time, he’s no doubt got some plan of retaliation warmed up and ready to throw back at them. Maybe?
