OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Uryu learns the rest of why Yae changed her name, and Yae fully realizes she is in love with Uryu.OUR TAKEWe conclude this three parter by filling in the last bit of details about Yae’s former life, which basically boils down to that Uryu gave her reason to pursue wanting more out of life, which led to her controlling mother abandoning her, and she somehow ended up at the Amagami Shrine and being adopted by her new mother and leaving behind the name Reiko Ichijoji. Worth noting that the elder Amagami already had Asahi and Yuna with her by the time Yae got there, which I guess makes her kinda both the youngest and the oldest as the last one to be adopted (unless there’s a fourth child who disappeared that we don’t know about, and at this point it wouldn’t surprise me all that much). And that brings us back to the present where Uryu and Yae clear the air and remember that they met all those years ago, so Uryu tells her an embarrassing story about wetting his bed to make them even. So, with all of that cleared up, Yae realizes she is actually head over heels for Uryu and plans to ask him out properly when he’s not so busy with his studies, much to Yuna and Asahi’s panic. So yeah, we’ve confirmed the thing we already figured out, and we’ve talked about everything all that worth talking about individually in this arc, so what else do we do for the remaining hundred or so words? I guess I’ll just summarize my thoughts on this overall, which is a little difficult since there were week delays between both the first and second AND second and third, so memories are a little fuzzy, but here it goes. It’s good that we’re finally getting focus on one sister specifically, and I expect we’ll get arcs for the other two soon (in fact, the next three parter is about Asahi). But while adding this new mystical element of time travel was neat and all, there’s no clear explanation of why it happened, or why that was specifically needed for Uryu to remember this. In addition, it’s becoming increasingly glaring that Uryu really doesn’t have any friends who aren’t trying to date him, which feels a bit limiting relationship-wise. Anyway, that’s this arc in the books, now we move onto Asahi’s arc and into the second half of the season. And maybe the arc about the fourteen year old crushing on the seventeen year old won’t feel super uncomfortable at all.
