OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Alicia is falsely accused of wiping Duke’s memory and banished from the kingdom, but this was actually what she wanted all along because she’s so smart and cool and FUCK THIS IT’S OVER.OUR TAKEI’m so friggin glad to be done with this. I’ve gotten pissed at many a show I’ve covered on this site, but this one makes me quite angry in a pretty unique way. The longer it has gone on, the more it has been clear that what they’re trying to do is simply not working, but it is insistent that it’s actually very clever and subversive, when really it’s just the literary equivalent of a loud fart and pretending it’s a classical symphony. Case in point, the plot of this final episode. To work backwards a bit, it is revealed that Alicia’s goal in this was to be exiled from the kingdom and sent to Laval, a nearby kingdom. So Duke, who is somehow so in tune with her desires that he begins working towards this unprompted, pretends to have completely forgotten who she is, and THEN has someone accuse her of using memory erasing magic on him, which is apparently a crime (I can see how it could be but that’s not the issue), which then leads to a whole trial done for the purpose of banishing her. Instead of just…I don’t know…maybe…SIMPLY LEAVING THE KINGDOM WHENEVER YOU DAMN FEEL LIKE IT?There’s been NOTHING mentioned about exiting the kingdom being illegal or hard to do. NOT ONE IMPLICATION that this method, which wastes a bunch of people’s time putting on a show for NOBODY, was the only way to reach this outcome. With her connections, both from her family and other nobles, as well as how she can basically take credit for resolving the situation with Liz and her accidental cult, it REALLY was just as simple as her asking to be able to leave and go to that other Kingdom, apparently to investigate some wolf or something? All of this nonsense is just Duke indulging his not-girlfriend in her being an attention seeking drama queen and making her the problem of a totally different kingdom, whom I hope get sick of her shit very quickly and keep her in a dungeon at the very least. I am so fucking tired of this stupid show and I am so fucking glad it’s over…aside from the season review next week which will mainly be rehashing all of these points again.
