OverviewZed sets out to throw his best zombie holiday party yet; Wynter wants to prove that the holiday monster, Santler Claws, is real; Wyatt searches for the perfect gift for Eliza. Our Take In the tradition of the obligatory “Holiday Special” episodes in various TV and cartoon shows, we get one for this series, which is a bit unexpected. Much of the episode is spent on the formulaic stuff you’d expect, involving teenagers in a holiday setting figuring out what to give to their family and loved ones for their gift exchanges. The music is mostly serviceable with many tunes trying their best to maintain the holiday spirit despite how weird their interpretation is. But at least it wasn’t dull with the multiple subplots it presented, including some silly ones where a character is addicted to drinking hot sauce or a singing two-headed Venus flytrap monster. Overall, this was a passable holiday special even if it wasn’t as emotional as it tried to make itself out to be. A lot of what happens is a bit predictable, even if it tried to do its spin within its universe such as making Santa an elusive, monstrous Bigfoot-type figure, but it’s unclear if anyone will remember this special in the future given that this was recently announced that this show won’t have another season. But hopefully, this show might someday find its audience the same way Descendants will.
