Jeff gets a job after the family calls him out for being a mooch; when he unexpectedly strikes it rich, Hayley must protect Jeff from the family’s greed.
Our Take
Jeff trying to get a job or the Smiths trying to get rich or even Roger trying to get rich has been done numerous times in American Dad but this show stuffs so much meta humor into a 22-minute runtime that even when it tries to be plain Jane, it becomes great Jeff. Such as the case with “Idiot Rich”.
Although called “Idiot Rich” someone could’ve called this episode “Fucking Stupid” because this is one of those episodes where you’re not in it so much for the plot but all of the stupid shit the writers come up with during the course of the show that made this one of the most hilarious episodes of the season thus far. Between the family’s day dreams, Steve’s unsettling Etsy pictures, and some newly discovered factoids about Klaus, this one had all of the goods.
The Minnie The Moocher parodies were brilliantly done if not a tad short and we didn’t even get to spend that much time at the casino but when you’ve got a hospital filling up with laughing gas with a boulder molded to the wall you don’t ask a lot of questions. It may seem that I gave away a few too many jokes, trust me, I’m not even at 1% of all of the one-liners and Jeff-isms that this show had a chance to muster today. American Dad wraps 2024 with a hilarious romp that should be watched my all.
