OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Misao insists Kenshin try to insist on getting Seiku Arai to give up his father’s last completed sword, but finds them being threatened by Cho of the Ten Swords, leading to Kenshin confronting him.OUR TAKELong time no see since yesterday’s review! Well, Kenshin is one of the few shows that DIDN’T take Thanksgiving off, possibly because they already had the episode recorded and ready to go, but regardless it’s nice to just keep going at an even clip and continue with the story at hand. As mentioned yesterday, Kenshin and most of his group are in Kyoto now, but so are Shishio and the Ten Swords, which means a battle between another one of them is inevitable, so naturally this episode ends with Kenshin facing off against the second of the ten that he’s faced, Cho. Cho pretty much has “lowest rank” painted all over him right down to his doofy ass hair, so let me take a quick peek over to the next episode and YEP Kenshin defeats him handily, so at least we have that to look forward to. Hey, we SAID there would be spoilers, we just don’t always specify what the spoilers will be for! But yeah, it makes sense really, since Kenshin had to fight Sojiro to a draw, he has to get a win not long after to show he’s still got the sauce, and Cho is the perfect sacrificial lamb to fill that role. Also expected is that Seiku Arai and his family still end up getting involved in the fighting and have their kid end up being nearly killed despite wanting to sit things out. As the saying goes, neutrality only helps the oppressor, never the victim, and in this case the victim is all of Japan. As for how Kenshin is going to get that last completed sword, I imagine he’ll have to earn it metaphorically by beating Cho with the broken sword he has to show he is someone who would use such a sword to protect others instead of simply to shed blood. It also challenges the assertion that he would have to return to his Battosai ways of killing people in order to defeat Shishio and his goons, since he still has this oath that he plans to be consistent about. So yeah, we’re over a third into this season (remember that this is only twenty three episodes long, which is an odd number for any season to have), so we really need to get on knocking off these Ten Sword guys. And if we’re knocking off one next week, that just leaves nine to go!
