OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Alicia, now old enough to attend the academy, is instructed by the king to be Liz’s overseer to guide her, as Liz is prophesied to be the “Saint”, someone who will lead the country someday.OUR TAKESo, as it turns out, Liz Cather is not just an extra talented spellcaster, but is essentially this world’s version of the Avatar from The Last Airbender. Able to control all of the elements, destined for greatness, but also apparently someone with almost supernatural charisma. Apparently she has already gained quite the following at the academy, so much so that any dissent against her is grounds for social exile, even if that’s not something she wants. Considering that Liz is supposedly what the player of the game this world is based on (or the game based on this world?), I wonder how the normal playthrough was meant to go? If it was supposed to be something like a visual novel, I have to imagine that the gameplay was more about having Player-Liz take a route to get with one of the five color coded male love interests, as is often the model for those sorts of games. So would her growing accidental cult leader status lead her gain more access to secret routes or something? I’m not saying we would necessarily need to know how the actual game itself went but the more I think about it from the perspective we’re given, the more questions I have.Oh yeah, there’s the actual episode to discuss and analyze…god I just wanna go to bed and pretend today didn’t happen. So, Alicia continues to build her image of an ideal Villainess, which I’ve shown confusion for numerous times (as have the other characters around her) so I won’t repeat that here. Though now she has been given a chance to do her brand of “villainy” with a purpose: to help keep the potential savior of the country in check and humbled. Fortunately, thanks to her already liking Alicia plenty already, it seems that Liz is receptive to this feedback, even if it’s pretty barbed. UNfortunately, it seems those who are part of her fan club are not so welcoming to the constructive criticism, apparently being more of the parasocial types of fans. So Alicia may have to deal with some of them as enemies later…which should be a short conflict considering she’s basically a prodigy at magic and is also in Liz’s good graces. And also Alicia picked up a new potential ally who was attacked and almost died but was saved and now is missing a foot…will probably be important later.
