Overview (Spoilers Below): Having formed a connection with the Assassin’s Guild members, Lloyd’s curiosity is captured by the leader Jade’s teleportation ability. Lloyd and the others head to Lordost Manor, where the guild is happy to be reunited with Jade, until…
Our Take: Lloyd is off on an adventure with the Assassin’s Guild, who we found wasn’t as villainous as we previously thought. However, the Kingdom of Saloum didn’t see the powerful assassins like Lloyd did, as Prince Albert declared war against them after believing his young brother was held captive. In reality, though, Lloyd is ecstatic to witness the Guild’s leader Jade’s ability to teleport, which seems to have gone haywire like the other assassins. I guess that’s one way to elevate this conflict in an otherwise formulaic and quirky isekai series. But, in all fairness, after its fan service from Sylpha and Lloyd being kissed on the lips by his own sister, I’m just happy that the season is nearing its conclusion. But, of course, it can’t be a proper conclusion without raising some stakes in its final few episodes, and this one is no different. “I’m Going to Meet Jade” offers exactly what the title suggested. Lloyd and the Assassin’s Guild join forces to find Jade, who, according to the letter they received, is located at Lordost Manor. Amid the journey, the episode showcased the Guild’s early days, emphasizing the relationship between Jade, Ren, and the crew. One of them is Ren, who was raised by Jade and the Assassin’s Guild as a child when her parents were killed by her poisonous ability. However, the crucial information we learned from Jade is that he is a noble at Lordost Manor seeking to achieve freedom for his new family. Upon arriving at the manor, the guild discovers it is a dinner party, with them being the guests of honor. Unfortunately, it’s later revealed to be a trap by another vicious demon lord named Guisarme, who’s taken possession of Jade’s body after driving him to kill himself. This exact moment resulted in the series taking a complete 180 regarding its tone. I know the previous episodes had some thrilling and dark sequences amid its light-hearted and cuddly affair, but regarding Guisarme’s twisted actions, this might be the darkest moment we had in the series. Sadly, the emotion behind it lacked the impact it needed to turn this season around, but at the very least, we get to see another OP moment from Lloyd as he faces his most formidable foe yet.
