Overview:
Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Pride must prove her mettle as the future queen by passing judgment on an enemy, but she worries this will set her on the road to ruin.
Our Take:
Pride has the ability to memorize an entire book reading it only once. So of course she would read up on all of the laws of her kingdom. It makes sense that she wants to learn the ins and outs of the law because she is doing her best to not use them to her advantage like a dictator would. She tries so hard to not be like the evil queen from the game that it makes you wonder why she thinks she will just one day become a despot. She’s constantly worried that one day she will become the villainess from the game but it seems to me that as long as she keeps acting the way she is she’ll be good.
In order to test whether she will one day be ready to rule, Pride’s mother tests her by having her pass judgment on the prisoner Val. You might remember him as the person that had the earth ability she took advantage of to save Arthur’s dad.
How a leader judges it’s people says a lot about them and that’s why I’m even more baffled that Pride thinks she will just randomly turn evil one day. She puts Val under a loyalty contract so he can’t harm anyone close to her. But after that she basically lets him go under certain conditions. If he ever feels like he needs help then he is ordered to return and ask Pride for help. Not only that but he is allowed to use his ability if it means protecting her sister, Tiara. I would say we don’t have to worry about her becoming evil anytime soon.
