Overview (Spoilers Below):

The kingdom has been infiltrated by a girl named Ren from the Assassin’s Guild.  Upon learning of her special ability as the Poison Blighted, Lloyd tracks her back to her hideout, sneaks in, and is attacked by a group of assassins with unique abilities.

Our Take:

Lloyd has officially become an adventurer, meaning he’s about to take on some dangerous adversaries outside of demons and monsters.  One is the mysterious Assassin’s Guild, who remains in the shadows and are some of Sylpha’s biggest rivals.  This week’s episode showcases more of the members of this unknown guild, including a young girl named Ren, who’s sent to spy on Lloyd’s kingdom until the young boy puts a stop to it.  It’s also revealed that Ren isn’t just a typical assassin, as she’s equipped with a deadly power known as the Poison Blighted.  After surviving the attack, Lloyd becomes highly eager to learn more about her ability to the point of following her back to the Assassin’s Guild’s lair.

The rest of the episode sees Lloyd combating the remaining guild members with his magic and sword skills.  While the whole reason for the fight is for Lloyd to study their spells, it’s hard to ignore the boy’s ability to hold his ground amid his OP status.  However, like Ren, the Assassin’s Guild comes equipped with other unique powers, including one member with spider powers and the other who can transfer her pain onto her opponents.  Unfortunately, I could not catch some of their names because the sound mixing in this episode was annoyingly unbalanced, making it difficult to hear what some characters were saying.  But, as we later found out, the assassins aren’t actually the bad guys we thought they were, as their uncontrollable mana unintentionally made them criminals to the public.  Fortunately, Lloyd is able to sustain their mana, making him the newest member of the guild.

We also learned that the guild’s leader, Jade the Shadow Wolf, is having problems with his Phantom Blighted, the ability to transport.  So, Lloyd will have to help the Assassin’s Guild again to locate Jade and fix his mana before he randomly disappears again.  However, their mission might not be easy on the count of Albert declaring war against the “criminals“ when he thinks his younger brother is kidnapped.  We just started the second half of the season, which might cover the Assassin’s Guild arc with a suitable take on the “misunderstood criminals having powers“ element. However, I still doubt that it’s making much of an improvement in the show’s reincarnation/OP formula.
