OverviewHibiki and Tomoki’s parties prepare for the attack on Fort Stella (the one Makoto ended up being somewhat involved in against his will). The two human heroes couldn’t be more different, posing challenges beyond the simple difficulty of facing the demons…Our Take After the previous episode introduced two random Isekai’ed Heroes within this show’s universe. We now see their alliance being formed with the Kingdom of Limia and the Empire of Gritonia with the plan to reclaim Fort Stella from the demon tribe. As tensions rise on the eve of battle, Hibiki and Tomoki’s initial meeting, clash due to Tomoki’s arrogant attitude. Drawing eerily similar parallels to Motoyasu from “Rising of the Shield Hero,” in the sense that his behavior reflects that of an insecure jerk who lets his hero status inflate his ego, even as he falls victim to the manipulations of an implied corrupt princess. The following day sees the commencement of war, with both hero armies launching into battle with careful planning. However, the battlefield proves treacherous, littered with traps laid by the demon tribe that blindside both armies. And despite achieving a small win through a specific yet dangerous spell, it comes at a high cost, resulting in a Pyrrhic victory of sorts for Hibiki that in the process brings out the worst in Tomoki…Overall, for what felt like another filler episode, it was well-written even if it had me hating Tomoki. Based on observation, I’m guessing that both these heroes are gonna be important later on since Makoto is the main star, but once I figured out the timeline of how this is tied to the Season One finale, everything started to make sense. Hopefully, now that we know the significance of these two, and what roles they both could potentially play, I still look forward to seeing Makoto go to school and further figure out his place in the world.
