Overview (Spoilers Below):
Ragna’s relentless assault forces Ultimatia on the defensive. Unaware of his identity, an unexpected emotion overtakes the dragon monarch as their battle rages on: Fear.
Our Take:
Ultimatia discovered that if you mess with the bull, you get the horns. Of course, the bull I’m referring to is a berserk Ragna determined to kill the monarch by whatever means necessary. This week’s episode continues where the previous one left off, with Ragna demolishing the hell out of Ultimatia regardless of her time abilities. Without receiving backup from her allies, who are preoccupied with Crimson’s servants, it seemed that Ultimatia’s impending doom was inevitable…or so we thought.
It turns out that Ultimatia has one more trick up her sleeve to turn the battle around. She uses her emergency spell to send Ragna back to before the fight began and freeze him in place. Unfortunately for the angel-winged monarch, Ragna is ineffective against her magic due to his silverine body, but only for a while. The episode further showcases that even though Ragna seemed invincible because of his profound abilities, it isn’t without his limitations that make him vulnerable, such as how much power he can use before passing out. It’s one of the elements that make OP-related shows like Ragna Crimson tension-filled and visually dazzling experiences, and I’m glad this series continues to understand this type of character growth.
“Act and Guilt” may seem like filler when it comes to drawing out the battle between Ragna and Ultimatia. However, its flashback involving Future-Ragna being rescued by Future-Crimson helps inject more interest in the duo’s complex relationship amid Ragna’s killing spree. It’s also not without its engaging examination of Ultimatia being consumed by fear regarding Ragna’s incredible strength, making herself as vulnerable as he is. So now another question arises: What should Crimson do to her since Ragna is unconscious?
