Review: Big Bruh

Sometimes, there comes a movie where you feel like you are a better person after watching. This…was not one of those movies. Big Bruh comes out of nowhere with an outlandish story of a prize fighter who gets duped into being a better person. There is only one thing I can possibly say about Big Bruh. And that is “what in the literal fuck did I watch?” This was insane and was also god damn entertaining.

While the story of Big Bruh is entertaining and overwhelmingly silly, the comedy knows that, and plays it off really well. Not once did I feel like the message that was trying to be conveyed was overbearing. Of course it was a lot of BLM, police brutality, and more “WoKe” topics, but it was so over the top that it never felt like the movie was trying to take itself seriously.

The story follows Money Montez, who was made to look like an absolute degenerate when the world champ, The Body Stretcher, takes a knee. From there, The Body Stretcher just makes him look like an asshole. That made Money go on a journey of self-discovery (kind of) and figure out that while he is a degenerate piece of shit, there is a happy medium between the two. Later, you get introduced to a Colin Kaepernick wannabe who dressed up as “Woke Panther.” This dude thought it would be a smart idea to piss on the logo on the field a second time to eliminate all hate. Instead, this clown decided to turn into a Super-Saiyan White Karen, and just fucks everything up.

The worst part of the movie was the animation, however, there are a lot of spots where the little things are done terribly. For instance, there was a spot where a kid named Darius went home. During the course of the scene, he was kicked out, and when he was getting his things, the parents were in the door, they disappeared, and the door was closed. There was no actual animation involved. The hilarious story suffered from the lazy animation.

All in all, Big Bruh was fun. The comedy was hilarious enough to carry what was ultimately a lazy animation job. Bento Box is much better with animation than what we got with Big Bruh. Luckily, the story was more than entertaining with its humorous plot.
