Overview:

Will talks to some of the dwarfs who have made their new home in Torch Port and learns about the history of the Rust Mountains.

Our Take:

This anime is scratching my fantasy itch. I spent some of my drive home listening to the episode and I could have sworn I was listening to one of The Lord of the Rings movies. I know I’ve made that comparison before but with the subject matter of this episode, it was even more on point. We have a group of dwarves who had to leave their ancestral home.

But what makes it interesting is that Will took on a dwarf named Al as his thegn. The interesting part is that this guy isn’t your stereotypical dwarf. He seems almost cowardly and doesn’t carry himself like a warrior at all. Something tells me he has been babied his whole life which leads me to believe he’s nobility or something. But he decides to be Will’s thegn so that he can become better for the people in his life. I really liked that and thought that showed a lot of bravery because it’s clearly something he’s not comfortable with but is doing it for others.

So far there has been a lot of exposition instead of things happening but that can be enjoyable in its own way. I’m looking forward to seeing where the rest of this season goes.
