English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “Black”

Overview:

Yhwach performs Auswählen to bestow power to his fallen Royal Guards and activate their Voll Stern Dich forms. What follows is a fierce battle between the Royal Guards and Squad Zero.

Our Take:

One of the only negative things I have to say about this episode is that it’s a bit of an odd way to end a season or part, whichever you prefer. Yhwach was “defeated” but I think we all know that won’t last for very long. Not only that I have a lot of questions about what’s going on with Squad Zero, did three of them really kill themselves to give all their power to Senjumaru? Something tells me they will also be back.

I can’t wait to review this season but it’s also going to be extremely difficult. On the one hand, it’s been really good and the fight scenes have been fantastic. But Ichigo was nowhere to be found when Senjumaru used her Bankai it showed him and the gang in an elevator and I forgot for a second he was coming. It’s just been a bit odd with how the main character has been handled, I can’t imagine what reading the manga was like.

I’m sad that it’s over but it was a pretty good episode to end on. Other than the massive cliffhanger of course. As of now we only have a 2024 release date for part three and as I understand it we will have one more part after that. I’m not sure if they will release them all at once or break it up like this but if I had to guess I would bet they break it up.
