NYCC 2023: Adult Swim Announces Season Three Renewal For YOLO

October 12, 2023

Adult Swim announced the third season renewal of the animated comedy “YOLO” from “SMILING FRIENDS” co-creator Michael Cusack. With a second season that ranked #2 in its timeslot across cable in key demos, the third installment, “YOLO: Rainbow Trinity,” will follow a pair of Australian best friends through absurd and fantastical adventures.

Read our interview with Michael Cusack where he talks about the future of the franchise here.

Additional Adult Swim panel announcements made at New York Comic-Con, we got to see a new clip of the upcoming season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force with five new episodes in tow that network VP Michael Ouweleen says is to “test the waters” for additional episodes coming down the pike. The new season will premiere later this year and will feature guest stars like Eric Bauza, Dan Folger, Brian Cox, and Gary Anthony Williams.

Right now, there are NO new plans for Ballmastrz: 9009 season three, however, Scavengers Reign will eventually make its way over to Adult Swim after it premieres on MAX, probably similar to the way Ten Year Old Tom did.

Smiling Friends season two will premiere sometime in 2024 and we got to see an animatic with the upcoming season featuring 3D, 2D, stop-motion, and live-action.

Rick and Morty continues to fuck itself with news that the new voices won’t be announced prior to premiere (probably due to all of the negative backlash the trailers have been getting on social networks) and that a spaghetti episode is going to be a big deal. No mention of Dan Harmon’s recent comments where he told THR that he pretty much has thrown in the towel on the franchise.
