OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)Aya is finally able to free Rembrandt, who reveals himself as Bram Stoker. Dazai reveals to Fyodor he faked his death and takes his masterstroke. And Fukuzawa and Fukuchi’s battle reaches its climax.OUR TAKEAnother season of Bungo Stray Dogs is in the books and, if the wikipedia page is anything to go by, has actually caught up with and possibly surpassed the manga source material by the end?! Yeah, in terms of chapters that are collected in volumes and translated online, it seems that the anime actually just narrowly ran out of material to adapt. You might think that means that the story itself is all done with and they have no need for no chapters, but that is apparently not the case, as the manga is still ongoing and its creator tweeted that the anime is not done just yet! This seemed like a pretty climactic battle too, at least from the perspective of someone like me who stopped watching after Season 3 and only caught up with the last few episodes to possibly get some context here, but is not the end, maybe even not very close from it, as a brief teaser at the end of the season hints at. And hey, that’s fine, this show has always had a unique vibe to it that middle school David would probably had been super obsessed over and I’ll probably binge it all one day, but there’s no better time than now since it’ll be at LEAST a few years before they have the material for another season. As for the season finale itself, I’d say it pretty much settles all the plotlines satisfactorily, at least for the most part. Even with my limited knowledge of the character, Dazai getting taken out seemed like it was a fake out, as he very much looked like the type of guy with about a million back up plans, so even if he was TRULY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT DEAD, there would be something in the works to either bring him back OR make sure whoever killed him, in this case Fyodor, would not be far behind. At this point, the guy has Batman levels of prep time and plot armor, so there’s probably no chance of him ever getting close to dying ever again. Meanwhile, the unsealing of Bram Stoker was pretty neat, especially in an arc where apparently vampires were the main antagonistic force but were stopped, and yet it was apparently part of a bigger plan to stop or impede some GREATER threat down the line, maybe related to the teaser at the end. All I know is that the ostensible main character, Atsushi, is so unimportant to this that I didn’t have to mention him once until now. He seems to be pretty prominently featured in the teaser at the end too, so perhaps his day will finally come? Well, we won’t find that out this day. See you at Season 6!
