English Dub Review: The Devil is a Part-Timer! “The Devil and the Hero Take the First Steps toward a New Dream”

Overview:

Maou has been thinking about dreams since his conversation with Kisaki, and he knows exactly what to do next. Of course, whether he can get the necessary parties’ buy-in on his dream is another matter…

Our Take:

This episode hit a little too close to home with the whole “money can buy anything” message. Though I guess the devil being a proponent of capitalistic policies isn’t exactly hard to believe. But seeing a former hero who fought against him lend her power to him for money was a message I might not have needed to see. I’m joking because when you think about it it’s hilarious my only question is whether the joke was intended. Something tells me that it was but you can never be too sure.

Maou’s manager Kisaki wants to open her own cafe and she sees the MgRonald’s barista training as a way to practice her craft. Kisaki is a character that I think needs more screentime and admitting she knew that Mitsuki had feelings for her and used them was interesting. Oftentimes I get more invested in the “side” relationships in a series than I do the main ones and this could possible be one of those if it goes well.
