Overview:
Rudeus is settling into school life and growing better acquainted with the enigmatic Silent Fitz. But when his efforts to teach Zanoba hit a roadblock, his new friend proposes a drastic solution.
Our Take:
On one hand, I really hate it when the protagonist is super oblivious. Like, homie you do know that is your childhood friend Sylphie right? But one thing that is kind of interesting about this is that since he still thinks she’s a guy he questions some of his feelings. You would think he would freak out when a “guy” can make his heart flutter but instead, he’s just like “Well… that’s not what I expected but it’s alright” and that is honestly a refreshing attitude.
This point in the light novel was both really interesting and also really boring. I know that those seem like differing ideas but they can go together way more than you might think. Slice of life is a lot of fun for me and that is more or less where this part of the story is going. But it can drag on at parts which is frustrating but Rudeus goes through so much growth during his time at school that I think it’s well worth it. My concern is that some people will give up on one of the better anime out there because it’s not all action, similar to how people were complaining about the new season of Vinland Saga even though it was one of the best anime of the year. Please, just be patient with this, growth is happening.
