Overview:
Three punks challenge Lum and her friends to a duel after stealing Benten’s precious chain.
Our Take:
Who knew that if you take one of the worst parts of a series out of that series you would have a decent show? I wouldn’t say that this was a great episode by any means but it was the best one in a long time. Without Ataru’s dumbass shenanigans, I was able to focus on the good stuff. While Lum has her own issues at least she accepts them and at worst, they are only bad for her, she isn’t ruining other’s lives.
Without the poor romance to focus on, there was time for the comedy. The comedy in this episode was really well done. You got some alien girlfriends going on a journey to get into a duel for some reason. Benten has this precious chain that was stolen but everyone has a different reason for why they think the chain is important. Turns out it is just the key to her door… somehow. I’m still waiting for this show to end but I have to say that this was an actual good episode if you can believe it.
