English Dub Review: Liar, Liar “A Dead Heat and Determination”
Overview:
Shinoara has to face off against Saionji’s biggest fan.
Our Take:
Someone makes a big scene when trying to intimidate Shinohara. That someone just so happens to be Kugasaki Seiran, Sayonji’s biggest fan. He says he has no interest in challenging Shinohara at first. After a little reverse psychology though, the challenge is made. Seiran ends up being more of a threat than everyone originally thought. Just because the game is tougher though, doesn’t mean Sayonji’s ready to give up.
Honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by the both the challenger and the game in this episode. They’re not bad by any means. Seiran just didn’t leave as much of an impact on mean I thought he would and I barely followed the rules of the game. That’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of things anyway.
However, we do learn even more about Sarasa. We learn that her and Himeji actually go way back and Himeji’s one of the few people who knows her secret. Saionji also reveals that her lie is more convoluted than she originally stated. This makes Shinohara even more determined to keep both of their lies safe.
The episode lacks a bit in its competition, but it does make up for it with character development. It’s still a solid episode despite being a little weaker than the previous two. It’s still on a good path and if anything, these new developments start to make it a little more interesting.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
