Our Take:
We have reached the point of any Gundam series where you start to take bets on whether your favorite character is going to survive. Chances are they aren’t, there were a few deaths in this episode that I wouldn’t call surprising per-se but it definitely set the tone moving forward.
I absolutely adore Gundam as a franchise but I have to admit I am slowly losing interest in this one. There are a few episodes left I believe but I think the problem is with how short this series is. A typical Gundam series is usually forty or so episode long but not this one.
That creates a problem because as we watch this academy get destroyed and certain students die I have a hard time feeling anything. We barely got any time to just learn and grow with these characters. Sure seeing students die and a school destroyed is going to be uncomfortable no matter what but we don’t have time to gain any personal feelings. There was a girl helping Suletta escape and she ended up dying in the wreckage. It was sad, yes but for the life of me, I can’t remember who she was. The world-building has been cool and interesting but we just haven’t had enough time with it.
