Almost a year ago next week we told you about the prospect of a Married…With Children animated series being in development from Sony TV who is handling distribution and is pitching to various networks and streamers as we speak. The revival is expected to have the original cast reprising their roles including Ed O’Neill (“Al Bundy”), Katey Sagal (Peg), Christina Applegate (“Kelly”), and David Faustino (“Bud”). Development of the animated series has been going on through the entire last two years, but Sony wanted to wait to shop it until they had the cast inked.
In a recent update from Deadline, one of those voices, the legendary Christina Applegate, confirms that he has retired from onscreen acting due to health complications stemming from multiple sclerosis. That said, voice fans need not worry, because Christina has confirmed that she will be a part of the animated series should it go to series:
“I can’t really say much, but all I know is that all four of us are attached to it. It’s not in our hands now, so we’re just kind of waiting.”
Family Guy’s Alex Carter is expected to be the showrunner of the series, however, with the WGA strike ongoing we may have to wait quite a bit longer before this one sees the light of day.
