Overview: Senku (Aaron Dismuke) and the gang help revive Ryusui’s (Clifford Chapin) butler, Francois (Michelle Rojas), who holds the answer to their food supply issue.

Our Take: An eccentric billionaire navigator needs an equally eccentric butler. Francois is a delightful addition in how reliable and quick on the uptick, moving the quest for bread along. They are also a wonderful inclusion for their genderless expression. Francois’s identity plays into the value of their relationship with Ryusui, based on their heart and job performance above all else. It is yet another engaging aspect in fully fleshing out his greed.

Ryusui and Francois take an interest in Senku that could be interesting in how they’ll expand both of their factions. Francois goes on to explain what makes Ryusui’s greed exceptional. It is a shame that element could not have been left more subtle through his actions, but the sentiment is nice all the same.

Francois helps them make the holiday sweet bread, Stollen. Their instruction is a neat look into the German dish and how it acts as a long-lasting resource in the way it’s preserved. Senku’s favor for Minami has another type of advancement in the leap of photography.

Building the world’s first camera, the Daguerreotype, makes you appreciate even the cheapest of disposable Kodaks. That mostly comes down to the vintage camera’s archaic design in required stillness for shots to process properly. The flashbacks with Minami are sweet in her cherished memories, even if goofy like when she sleeps with it.

Senku’s Albert Einstein photo is a nice homage to the scientific pioneer and excellent end on as he maps out for an oil field.
