Overview“Crushed”Frankie bottles up their feelings after not making the fear-leading team and causes unintended electrical outbursts…“Over Bro-tective”After misguided efforts, Clawd learns that being a good, older brother means more than just protecting his sister…Our TakeFor the first half, the heart of the story is about Frankie attempting to “Bottle” her feelings in the sense that every time she feels some negative emotions. she puts the electric energy representing those feelings in a bottle. Predictably she learns it’s not a really a good idea to just do that, and with Cleo’s help, she learns some valuable lessons about how to deal with her feelings without literally bottling them up… As for the other episode, It’s your by-the-numbers story of a Brother trying to look out for her sister which at first starts fine until it escalates into annoyance. But predictably it leads to a mutual understanding of the two and how they wanna live their lives while acknowledging their capabilities. Both episodes were a bit predictable and on the nose with their metaphors, yet harmless. At first, I was a bit confused by the synopsis with Frankie identifying herself as a “they/them” but it took me a while to process that it was meant as a clever attempt to introduce a non-binary person without being in your face about it since she’s a creature comprised of body parts. As for the other episode and much to my shock, I just discovered about Clawd being some sort of long-lost sibling to Clawdeen, which I guess makes sense that he’d wanna hold onto that and not lose those ties in terms of family, but the lessons despite how wacky and comical they were presented felt timeless in the lessons they were conveying.
