Hulu has been as hot of a streaming service this year as anyone else and if you aren’t subscribed you need to work on that. Series like Koala Man and upcoming revivals of King of the Hill and Futurama showcase that when it comes to adult animation this streamer doesn’t fuck around. Add in the fact that the Disney-owned property just inked a re-up of their deal with FOX for the next couple of years to make sure new and existing AniDom properties will be featured prominently, and you have yourself a bargain.
One of the cool things that Hulu has done over the years is its deal with sister network FX Networks in that anytime a new episode of anything animated premieres on FX/FXX, it’s on Hulu the next day. Whether it’s Archer, conservative darling Little Demon, or even splicing up the live-action/animated anthology series Cake into different chapters for franchises like Dicktown, Psychotown, and the recently canceled Poorly Drawn Lines.
From what I hear, Pamela Ribon’s debut animated short My Year of Dicks was originally produced by FX to premiere as part of Cake, but it doesn’t sound like FX Networks is bringing that show back anytime soon, so Pamela’s short went the independent route instead showing up at various festivals around the world which worked so well it got the film animated for an Oscar. FX is teaming up with Hulu to give the short film an increased visibility ahead of the voting season which starts March 2nd.
So if you haven’t already, I implore you. Pamela’s My Year of Dicks follows a 15-year-old Pam on a journey to find the right boy to lose her virginity to presented in a number of different animation styles and you should definitely watch it on Hulu starting February 17th.
