Overview (Spoilers Below): Seika arrives at the academy only to quickly find himself in a fight with a terrible devil.

Our Take: In typical magic academy series fashion, Seika and Efa have successfully enrolled in Lodonea Academy. Sure, Seika lied to get into this magical school, but what else were you expecting a boy with exorcist powers to do to get away from his dick-headed brother? Unfortunately for him, the former exorcist would later discover that his brother is the least of his worries. Along with passing the exams to be enrolled, Seika is also dealing with another new student, Amu (Luci Christian). As seen in this episode and the previous one, Amu has all four of the most vital elements and is seeking to become the most powerful sorcerer. Additionally, Amu is also a swordsman judging by the sword she possesses. With all those skills at her disposal, it’s no wonder Seika is highly curious about this fierce red-headed girl. However, it also means that Amu unknowingly puts a target on her head for a group of demons. The demons crashing the party are led by Gull Galeos (Ray Hurd), whom his mysterious master sends in the second episode to search for the “hero” from the prophecy. Considering Amu’s powerful magic, Seika assumes that Amu’s the one Gull Galeos is looking for, giving him another reason to earn Amu’s trust. The episode showcases Seika’s full potential with his exorcist abilities against a demonic foe like Gull regarding its animation. Although, it wouldn’t be fair to judge the show’s fantasy action based on one episode since there’ll be more like that later. But judging by Seika’s spells, especially the paper dolls that save him from death, I can admit that I was intrigued by what he could do without his elemental magic. Aside from its enjoyable confrontation between Seika and Gull Galeos, the episode continues to provide its cute chemistry between Seika and Efa, with them dominating the physical exam easily with their magic. Amu was able to place first in the exam following the two, which isn’t surprising considering her incredible capabilities, but in this case, it’s good enough for them to pass. It was also funny to see the students’ reactions to Seika and Efa’s unusual abilities. However, Seika’s interest in Amu could affect his companionship with Efa and make him a target for his mysterious enemy as their first school year progresses.
