Overview (Spoilers Below): Propelled by promises of curry, Fran rushes in with Teacher at her side… But their target, the Dungeon Master, does not wait for them alone.

Our Take: The episode continues the party’s dungeon raid to destroy the goblin king and queen and subdue the hobgoblin army. While the guild members struggle to hold off the reviled creatures, Fran and Teacher manage to slice through them quickly. However, those puny enemies were just the appetizers before what they were about to face inside the cave. The last couple of episodes teased that Fran’s desire to grow stronger has its downsides. While it was admirable that she wanted to defend herself due to her traumatic past, her refusal to regroup almost caused her to face a fate worse than slavery. Luckily for her, she has Teacher by her side to heal her wounds and the Feather of Return, which instantly allows them to escape the dungeon if things get too tough. This episode further showcases this dilemma with Fran and Teacher battling a powerful enemy alone. It provides the stakes needed for the highly-skilled duo and represents Fran learning about the difficulties of the evolvement process the hard way. The enemy they’re facing is a high-level demon that the Dungeon Master summoned to destroy their enemies and rule the world. The demon showcased its massive strength by using its dark magic to slice off Fran’s hands like they were butter. But that’s not all. It even has a unique “Skill Taker” ability that can take away its opponent’s abilities. Considering how tremendous Teacher and Fran’s skills are, it’s hard to imagine how powerful the demon would be when it succeeds. Even the promise of curry might not be enough for them to defeat this foul demon in one swoop. “The Feeble First Dungeon” delivers a more formidable challenge for the duo despite their powerful abilities. That alone is enough to make their journey of evolvement a tad more complicated than the goblin king and queen, who got decimated by one attack. Additionally, Melissa Molano’s vocal range has improved a bit regarding her performance as Fran, especially when she’s upset that Teacher destroyed the king and queen instead of her. It sounds so adorable when she pouts or is in pain while doing the Split Mind ability. Hopefully, by next week, the duo will find a solution to subdue that skill-stealing monstrosity.
