Overview:
Four adventurers meet in a tavern and share tales of woe.
Our Take:
This anime could be fun, but as expected, this first episode was mostly backstory. Nick, Curran, Tiana, and Zem don’t trust anyone anymore. To be fair, we haven’t heard what Curran’s issue is, but when it comes to past betrayal, I think Zem had it wayyyy worse than the others. He was accused of sleeping with a child and that isn’t something people typically forgive. We know he didn’t but man it makes Nick and Tiana’s issues look like a walk in the park. On the flip side though, he was shown a lot of kindness (and other things) by a woman who owned a tavern. So, it seems he should maybe have a little more reason to trust others.
With the title of this, I thought it for sure was going to be an isekai but it’s not. It’s just straight-up fantasy but with modern things like idols for some reason. One thing that surprised me was that Tiana was voiced by Christina Kelly and I don’t think I have heard her in too many dubs outside of Sentai ones. We have a good cast, and I am intrigued to see where this one goes once we get a little more to work with.
