English Dub Review: I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss “The Crimes of the Villainess Are Revealed”

Overview (Spoilers Below): Knowing that the prize of the contest for White Lily Princess is demon incense that’s harmful to demons, Aileen removes her male student disguise and enters the contest dressed as a woman. While others are overwhelmed by her beauty, James asks her to dance. The light dance steps of the pair fascinate the audience, and Aileen is chosen to be the White Lily Princess. However, right after that, the mastermind has demon incense scattered throughout the venue. Aileen and the others struggle in vain as James turns into a demon.

Our Take: The White Lily Princess contest is coming up, but Rachel’s in poor condition to compete due to Selena’s “mishap”. By that, I mean that bitch injured Rachel on purpose, all for a pageant. So it looks like Aileen will be stepping in to save the day, even if it means removing her male disguise. Thankfully, everyone doesn’t recognize Aileen’s true identity, leading her to win the pageant and take the prize easily. Unfortunately, Selena happens to have the demon incense the whole time and uses it to turn James into a demon. Keeping her promise to protect James, Aileen offers him a chance to work for her and Claude, foiling Selena’s plans. Similar to its fourth episode, “The Crimes of the Villainess Are Revealed” concludes the season’s second arc with several humorous moments and more surprising reveals. The only difference between the two is that it doesn’t involve Cedric attempting to rape the poor woman. Yes, I’m still not over that. One moment, in particular, is Claude stepping in to stop the demon horde and punish Aileen for her disobedience. However, instead of the cage built for her, Claude decides to kiss Aileen’s forehead to treat her more like a fiancé than a prisoner. This moment is another example of the chemistry between the villainous couple, with Aileen feeling anxious over Claude’s charm. As for its surprises, there are only a couple that would come into play in the later episodes. The first involves Isaac, who reveals that he wanted to talk to Aileen during her disengagement with Cedric. However, he couldn’t find the right time to do that. It’s implied that Isaac may have some feelings for the villainess. The other reveal is the true mastermind responsible for the events at the academy, Lilia Reinoise, who’s also revealed to be a reincarnated girl stuck in the game. Although, this is far from a surprise, considering that Lilia and Aileen are already rivals in the first place. With Lilia also knowing the games, this sets the stage for an enticing mind game between Aileen and Lilia, with the two switching their hero and villain roles. This showdown will likely play a role in the season’s final arc, which would feature Claude and Aileen’s determination to bring peace to humans and demons alike. In conclusion, the second arc offers enough silly moments to provide the same enjoyability as the previous one despite its formulaic elements still being present in the series.
