English Dub Review: The Devil is a Part-Timer! “The Devil Begins Farming”

Overview:

Maou, Ashiya, and Urushihara get a farming job on Chiho’s recommendation. Emi seems to have some feelings about it.

Our Take:

I never thought an anime would be one of the first places I would hear a butthole referred to as a “chocolate pocket” but these are the times we live in now. Apparently, there is a kappa that occasionally steals things from people’s butts but hopefully, that doesn’t become plot-relevant later. What will continue to be plot-relevant is that Maou and his friends need money and lots of it. Luckily, Chiho has family that owns a farm and needs some help.

For being someone who was so widely hated back in his home world, Maou sure does a lot of nice things in our world. Makes you wonder if Satan is really all bad? No one tries to be all bad and we know that there are more shades of grey in the world than we would care to admit. Just an interesting part of the story I think. Can you imagine if Christianity painted Satan as some broke slob who’s just trying to make ends meet? Oh, wait…

Anyways, jokes aside this episode ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger. Well… it would at least if it wasn’t for the fact that everyone is super overpowered. What is a bear going to do? The only problem I can think of is that they are trying to hide their powers or something but to save Chiho’s cousin’s baby I think they might reveal themselves.
