Overview:
Kazuya has hardly begun to process the fallout from his birthday when he gets asked to go on another practice date with Sumi, this time with her taking the lead!
Our Take:
This was without a doubt the best episode thus far this season. That isn’t really saying much when it comes to this show but we’ll get to that in a minute. First is something I keep forgetting to mention, Crunchyroll’s on-screen sub translations. Sometimes, if I don’t get to a show for a few days, there might be some on-screen text translating text messages and signs and things. Even that is just a maybe, but if you watch same-day you better forget it. It’s just really annoying because sometimes it feels like you’re missing out on plot-relevant details because of no translation. I know their cranking out these dubs fast and I appreciate that but if they need to take a little time that would be fine.
Back to the episode! This episode had Sumi, and Sumi is great. She is a sweet, cute little cinnamon roll we would all protect with our lives. Does Kazuya like Sumi in that way? Of course not, because then we wouldn’t need all this other BS. I’m glad he doesn’t because he doesn’t deserve her but man she is such a shining light in this show. Episodes with her are always the best I just wish it wasn’t a forgone conclusion that she would lose.
