Overview:
How can you fall in love with a vampire when you can’t even track them down!? Nazuna remains frustratingly elusive, but Ko may have a nostalgic solution to this new problem.
Our Take:
If you have followed any of my reviews for any amount of time you know that I LOVE characters. Great characters can cover up for a lot of bad things in my opinion. Nazuna Nanakusa is a fantastic character that brings a lot of charm and cuteness to the table. If you watch this you will see why she is one of the top anime waifus of the summer season. One thing that helps is Natalie Rial bringing her to life. I know I sang her praises last week but this week it just improved. How can a character go from being so seductive and sultry one minute to outright shy and bashful the next? It’s a joy to see and hear with Natalie involved.
This anime is mainly a comedy and the laughs came through this time. Whether it was Nazuna poking fun at Ko for not having any friends but still buying walkie-talkies or Ko giving Nazuna crap for essentially having a Nokia cell phone. These two are adorable together and the character design is amazing, especially in Nazuna’s case. She is somehow equal parts sexy and badass looking all at the same time. It’s fitting this show is called Call of the Night because the way they animate the night sky has never made me want to go outside at night time more. I was blown away again this week. Nazuna better keep on her toes because it looks like she might have some competition…
