English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Booze and Girlfriend”

Overview:

As Kazuya wonders, if his birthday gift was good enough, he and Chizuru find themselves in a crisis in the form of a boozer.

Our Take:

Have you ever watched something so bad it’s good? Like a dumpster fire or a train wreck that you just can’t look away from? That is what Rent-a-Girlfriend is, it will occasionally have some good moments sure but other than that it is just pure garbage. King of the garbage, Kazuya, had some decent moments this episode.

He was hoping that he might rent Mizuhara to take her out for her birthday but she already had plans to go drinking with her friends. Well, Kazuya’s friends decided to go out drinking with a new group of friends that night, you can see where this is going can’t you? That group was non-other than Mizuhara’s group and that puts Kazuya in an awkward spot! Except it doesn’t… He could literally just make up an excuse and leave but I guess then we wouldn’t have this cringefest, would we?

The one positive thing I can say is that he was worried about Mizuhara being alone and drinking with some single guys so he took it on himself to lose every round of the drinking game. He still ended up causing trouble for her because she had to help him to his room and be there as he threw up. But hey it’s the thought that counts right? Ugghhh this show is garbage. Anyways, I’ll see you guys next week!
