English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “The Usual Girlfriend”

As the fallout from the play becomes clear, things go back to normal between Mizuhara and Kazuya, until…?

Our Take:

One of the biggest annoyances with this anime and the manga is that every time Kazuya and Chizuru are out everyone has to comment on how hot she is. We get it! You would think that most of these guys have never seen an attractive woman in their entire life. It happens with the other girls too, but he goes out with Chizuru more, so it happens way more and gets annoying because he hears it and we have to deal with his inferiority complex.

Kazuya is a decent guy, he has some gross tendencies and whatnot but I’ve seen worse from anime characters that’s for sure. I understand that part of this series is him learning that about himself but dang dude. I really hate the term “simp” but Kazuya is the epitome of a simp, the only time he does anything of note or seems somewhat decent is because he is trying to do something for Chizuru. I hope that when all is said and done none of the grandmothers are hurt in the making of this farce.
