English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “The Return of the Girlfriend”

Overview:

Mizuhara has lost the key to her apartment and comes to Kazuya for some reason… and she’s not the only unexpected visitor!

Our Take:

When you have the rental girlfriend (who you want to be your REAL girlfriend) in your room and suddenly your ex-girlfriend shows up, things can get awkward fast. And how does Kazuya handle it? Like the spineless douche, he is of course! I think that is what makes this anime (and manga) so frustrating. When your entire conflict in a series could be resolved with one simple conversation it really shows how thin the premise is.

For as awful a person Mami is, at least she keeps the plot interesting. She is always there to throw a wrench into Kazuya and Chizuru’s plans. Mami is chaos incarnate and honestly, I want her in it more. Do I like her? God no but at least she can somehow make this anime interesting.
