Overview:

The second season of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.

Our Take:

The biggest question when it comes to the second season of Yashahime is, where do we go from here? Will there be a third season? The main plot has been resolved but that doesn’t mean everything thing is. There are plenty of character hooks left that could be explored, they just aren’t necessary but there is plenty left to work with. With how popular this series and Inuyasha before it are I would be surprised if we don’t get more.

Sunrise is the studio behind this series and they definitely show why they’re top tier. My personal favorite thing about this series is how they manage to make it feel “classic” while still giving it modern touches. The anime looks great but it also hits the right amount of the nostalgic factor. The opening and ending songs for both cours were solid. The soundtrack for the show was enjoyable I really loved the Feudal era sounds they incorporated.

The voice actors of course were great. Erica Mendez, Kira Buckland, and Morgan Berry as the main trio of Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha respectively are great. I like Moroha the best and part of that is probably because of how Morgan voices her. On the other hand, if you have read any of my episode reviews you know how much I love Hisui and that is mostly because of him being voiced by Aleks Le. That is one of the plots I would like to see explored further, his relationship with Setsuna.

As for the season itself, it had its ups and downs. But it was mostly fun and sometimes an emotional trip. If you were a fan of Inuyasha I am sure you loved it because I haven’t even seen that and I absolutely adored the family moments. For being an action show there was a lot of wholesomeness that was just fantastic. Ultimately I think that this series is worth the watch and I definitely plan on going back and watching Inuyasha just to see how everything got to this point. I personally hope this isn’t the last we see of those half-demon princesses.
