Overview:
The group is having a hard time fighting Ukoku, and things will only get worse from there.
Our Take:
Ukoku has my vote as a good villain. The fight starts rather quickly and he even says “Oh? You don’t want to exchange more words? Ask me why I’m doing such a thing?” and I loved it. The nod towards typical anime tropes was so on the nose it would be practically impossible to miss but that doesn’t make it any less hilarious. Gojyo replied back “Huh? Why would we want that?” the whole sequence of events was pretty comical. If I knew more about the Saiyuuki Reload series then maybe that is their thing.
We got a pretty big revelation about Hazel. I didn’t think his powers were all they appeared to be and now we know why. It definitely made him more interesting as a character but with only one episode left it feels like too little too late. I might have to check out the rest of the series because there is definitely some cool stuff here but jumping into the middle of it doesn’t do it any favors. Heck, maybe some of the “surprises” I’ve mentioned aren’t actually surprises to long-time watchers.
