English Dub Review: Spy x Family “SECURE A WIFE”

Overview:

Civil servant Yor Briar has a secret identity: an assassin named the Thorn Princess. Lately, single women had been suspected of being spies, which was making Yor nervous. Meanwhile, Loid was searching for someone to play Anya’s mother so they could attend the interview at Eden College. He just happens to run into Yor at a boutique. Anya reads Yor’s mind and finds out that she’s an assassin and tries to get Loid to ask Yor to play her mother.

Our Take:

Yessssssssss!!!! This was the episode I was waiting for! Last week I said “Welcome to the show of the season” well this week welcome to best girl of the season! Yor is here and we aren’t ever looking back. Who could possibly pair better with a spy than an assassin? Of course, Anya is all about it as well.

I was a little concerned with how Natalie Van Sistine would do as Yor. The only thing I had experience with her in was when she played Reona in Full Dive: This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life! She did well in that so I should not have been surprised she did well here either. I think she is going to make a great Yor and I hope this is a role that she gets to play for a long time. It also sounded like Dallas Reid plays her brother but there hasn’t been confirmation that I know of yet so we will find out when he gets introuduced.

As you can tell I am really excited for this anime. It is one of my favorite manga and I was waiting for it to get an anime. So I was nervous on if this would be good or not. So far after two episodes I can tell you it is. If you’re expecting a lot of seriousness and action you might be disappointed (though it does go there at times I promise) but this is comedy gold. This is a family function you definitely want to be a part of.
