Overview: Shido (Josh Grelle) meets a new spirit in that of Nia (Mallorie Rodak), whose power has huge effects on time itself. Our Take: The biggest player in the entire world, Shido Itsuka, makes her long awaited debut. And of course first on the docket, wouldn’t you know it? It is to sweep yet another helpless spirit off of her feet and into his loving arms.
All jokes aside, the series has done an excellent job of making each girl, or girls in Kaguya and Yazuru’s case, unique from one another as well as diversifying the challenge involved with getting each to fall in love with our lucky blue haired boy. Nia is no exception with her maybe being one of, if not, the most delightful of the spirits thus far. She is cheeky, charismatic and instantly likable with how much she teases Shido. Her being a manga artist is also a cool plus in showing her geekier otaku side. If she is not waifu material, I am not sure who is.
The details of Nia’s torture at the hands of DEM is a touchy subject that is subtly hinted at and piquing interest of how truly horrific it is with Nia’s reluctance to learn about it through Rasiel. Speaking of her abilities, they are cool in the scope they have and what ramifications they could have for future ordeals in having the book Rasiel, which change the future when events are written within. It will also be interesting to see what kind of limitations will be placed on the future altering powers. Nia’s date with Shido is full of fun cute moments as well in him learning about her manga crushes, not to mention her enthusiasm and corky qualities. Shido finding out she only likes “2D” guys is an especially funny cliffhanger. It also presents a fun romantic challenge for Shido to overcome in an attempt to win her over if indeed true.
