Stoner Cats Disrupts Adult Animation Industry With Huge Haul

We told you earlier this month about Mila Kunis’ new animated series entitled Stoner Cats that she made with Chris Cartagena, Sarah Cole, and Ash Brannon. The animated series about a bunch of cats that are, well, stoned, features a bevy of voices including Kunis, Seth MacFarlane, Ashton Kutcher, Jane Fonda, Vitalik Buterin, and Chris Rock with the first episode of the NFT series dropping on July 28th. Not more than a half-hour later, the series had officially sold out of 10,420 NFT’s and has amassed a little over $8 million after converting 0.35 ETH (cost per episode of the series as purchased by customers).

The only reason this series didn’t make any additional revenue, is because the NFT’s are sold out. The technology is almost there, but animation studios are swirling like sharks to get in on this business. Both Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and FOX have already shown strides in the crypto/NFT industry and now we know why…all profit. In 2020, the market value of NFT’s were $250 million. In 2021 so far, it’s over $2 billion. Independent artists like Beeple have already cashed in making a pretty penny on NFT’s helping make the still budding crypto-industry the new target gold mine of this millennium for art, more-or-less signifying the death of free content providers like Youtube, Facebook, and Snapchat, all of whom are already feeling the heat of lacking interest, so much so that they are now paying content producers to author more short-form content. That said, Youtube especially and other social media companies in general have long ripped off content producers which is making NFT’s  that much more of an attractive option for content creators. While the finite limits of NFT’s are still in tow, expect additional artwork to be seen mostly as investment opportunities for the foreseeable future, but make no mistake, there’s a future here.

As for Stoner Cats, with the series meeting all of it’s expectations as it pertains to revenue and important milestones, expect more episodes of the series to be produced and made available.
