English Dub Review: Shadows House “The Garden Labyrinth”
Overview:
Emilico shows off her smarts as well as her sweet tooth. She also shows how much faith she has in Kate. It seems Edward, the living doll in charge of the debut, has it out for Kate for some reason. He gives them two hours to rescue their masters from the labyrinth, will the living dolls make it in time?
Our Take:
I’m glad Emilico got a moment to show off her intelligence. She has mostly been portrayed as the dumb character archetype up till now. Sure she kind of lucked into the moment by going for the sweets but sometimes that’s all we need. There were charms in the sweets and when pieced together they formed a key of sorts to unlock the door to the labyrinth.
We get another question thrown at us this week with Edward. For some reason he wants Kate to fail but can’t do it without good reason. Why does he have a problem with Kate? Is it something coming down from the top or is he acting of his own accord? Hopefully, this show starts answering some questions before they give us any more but something tells me that mysteries are the name of the game with Shadows House.
The living dolls are expected to rescue their master within two hours and get to select one item to help them. Emilico chooses a wheelbarrow for some reason. I am sure it will come into play later but her choice is perplexing, to say the least. Kate is confined in a birdcage and is trying to use her soot powers as a signal.
We did get one answer this week because Kate learned that she isn’t the only one that has these “soot powers” so that is good to know. Though she does seem to have the best control over them, John seemed to use his unknowingly. Maybe this plays into why she is disliked by Edward so much?
Other than getting more questions than answers again I don’t really have too much negative to say about this episode. The debut is continuing into the next episode. I was hoping it wouldn’t take that long but this seems like the big arc of the show so it makes sense. I hope we get another episode next week and I hope it’s the conclusion to the “Debut Arc”. Not because I want it to be over but because it is really intriguing!
