Comic-Con@Home: Family Guy Q&A and First-Look at Season 19

With Family Guy approaching its 350th episode this fall, the series is a veteran to San Diego Comic-Con compared to some of the other animated sitcoms that have appeared thus far through the weekend.

However, like those shows, Family Guy has had to adapt its panel virtually as the annual event was forced to close its doors and go online.

Comic-Con@Home is Comic-Con Internationals way of bringing the same great content that we look forward to each July into our living rooms. And Family Guy joins other Animation Domination sitcoms in sharing insights and previews for the upcoming fall seasons.

Show creator and voice of nearly half the cast, Seth MacFarlane is joined by his co-stars Alex Borstein (Lois), Mila Kunis (Meg), and Seth Green (Chris) for this virtual showcase. Executive Producers Rich Appel, Alec Sulkin, and Kara Vallow also join the fray to discuss past years and future episodes.

But first, these wonderful talents shared a treat for fans by doing a table read of season fours “Model Misbehavior”. Funny enough, that particular episode is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this week. So, some of the references are outdated, but it is great to see these cast members reprise old dialogue.

The star-studded cast and crew were able to answer some of the fan’s questions in the latter half of the panel. There was a lot of reflection on the show’s inception like how MacFarlane opted for the signature style. The inspiration for character voices is also explored as Green explains how his voice for Chris landed him the job and where MacFarlane lifted his voice for Quagmire.

Additionally, the producers shared on their experience bringing the Family Guy operation into this new era of quarantine. Which includes the voice actors hilariously describing their make-shift home recording studios.

Easily one of the best parts about the virtual panel was seeing how everyone ripped on Mila Kunis just as savagely as Meg gets destroyed in the show. However, there was no clap-back at Rick and Morty who had plenty to say about Family Guy in their own panel at Adult Swim Con the evening prior.

Mixing things up a bit, Family Guy opted to reserve their preview of the upcoming 19th season for their own social media platforms. The 4-minute mixed bag of clips is available to watch at any time and features snippets of five soon-to-be-aired episodes. Highlights include Meg as an X-man, Peter becoming a godfather, Chris moving to Italy and Brian playing cat.

A lil' peek at what's to come. 😜
